Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman was reelected on Tuesday, November 3 to a second term by a 2-1 margin. DFL-endorsed incumbent School Board members Elona Street-Stewart and John Brodrick were reelected, garnering 16,279 and 13906 votes respectively. Vallay Varro won the special election to complete the term of Tom Conlon, who resigned his seat on the Board. Incumbent School Board member Tom Goldstein was not reelected due to the strength of an independent Board candidate. We congratulate all our DFL-endorsed candidates on their strong showings and thank Tom Goldstein for his impressive service on the School Board. All of our elected candidates have expressed their desire to tackle the serious challenges that are facing the City and the Saint Paul Public Schools.
Congratulations to our DFL-Endorsed candidates. Mayor Coleman handily won his primary with nearly 70 percent of the votes cast. School Board candidates Elona Street-Stewart, John Brodrick, Tom Goldstein, and Vallay Varro were the leading vote-getters in their primaries. All of our candidates now move on the general election on November 3, 2009.
